Awesome Video Game Music - Snake Eater

Ah, Metal Gear Solid. What a franchise! There is nothing else like it in the gaming world. Sure, you can try to make comparisons with games like Splinter Cell or Syphon Filter, but they don't really do it justice. Tactical Espionage Action plus MANY weird mechanics plus a WEIRD sense of humor. It's one of those franchises where you have to experience it yourself to get a true appreciation for it. Every gamer should give the games a shot, especially since Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is due out September 1st, and sounds like it will be director Hideo Kojima's last one.

The franchise has always paid homage to Hollywood action movies. Whether it's Michael Bay-style explosions, to Snake going by an alias of "Pliskin", some have been subtle nods, some not so subtle. File this under "not so subtle", but also file this under "One of (if not THE) best intro/themes in video gaming".

Here is "Snake Eater" from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater:

This is Bond, through and through. You could insert Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery, Daniel Craig, or Adele in there and you could fool people.

Not only does this song appear in the intro, it makes an appearance during a VERY LONG ladder climbing joke, and is the song played during the final boss battle. They got their money's worth out of this song, so it helps that it's as good as it is.

By the way, "Someday you go through the rain, and someday you feed on a tree frog" cracks me up every time.

I can't wait to see what Kojima has planned for MGS5, if it is indeed his swan song, you can expect nothing short of complete absurdity.
