The Fallout 4 Trailer Is Here!

Well, the internet broke today, and unlike the claims of a self-absorbed diva showing you how big her ass is, this actually is about something people care about.

Fallout 4 finally has a trailer, and while we are sure to hear more about it during E3 in a few weeks, gamers everywhere are salivating at the chance to get back into the wasteland, but what did the trailer show, and what can we take away from the just over 3 minutes of radiated goodness?

- The "Please Stand By" screen followed by pulling back to see the wasteland is something Fallout games have used since the beginning, so it's a nice piece of nostalgia.

- We get a look at what this house (and life) was before the war, before the bomb was dropped. The musical style is iconic when it comes to Fallout trailers and this is no different. This song is right up there with "I don't want to set the world on fire".

- DOG! We assume this is Dogmeat, and yes he is a good boy.

- The voice on the radio speaks of breaking news and how they have lost contact with other stations, showing the confusion that led to the end of civilization.

- More flashbacks to before the bomb hit, showing the happy family with their newborn baby. Really tugs at the heart strings, no?

- Dogmeat goes running out of the house and to a NON-GREEN WASTELAND. The outside is colorful (at least, as colorful as can be expected when you are talking about the apocalypse).

- All these flashbacks lead me to believe there is a part of the game you can play that's NOT post-apocalypse. That would be a nice change of pace.

- Is that the Brotherhood of Steel preventing people from gaining access to the vault?

- "War, war never changes". Nerdgasm! Ron Pearlman said he wasn't in the game, turns out he was keeping this a secret. Thank you, Ron.

- Vault 111 opens up and the trailer kicks into high-gear, showing the character emerging from the vault to a relatively beautiful pink tinted landscape.

- The game is set in Boston as we see landmarks that have been ravaged by the bomb. Including beautiful lighting and ....Mysterious Stranger?

- We get a glimpse of a potential new creature, some have said a mutated fly, I'm gonna go with crab.

- Fuckin' Deathclaws.....

- Can we fly that chopper?

- Ghouls are back.

- That's Fenway Park!

- Eyebots flying by, showing the government will have a presence here.

- Looks like baseball will be a big influence, at least in that particular city.

- Besides showing off the fantastic night lighting, is that a blimp? Can I fly that blimp? Can I blow up that blimp?

- A couple shots of the scale of the landscape and the ruined/rebuilt cities. Again, the green hue appears to be gone.

- You can feel the desperation of those souls who were denied entry to that vault, and feel it turn to horror as the bomb goes off, bringing their doom. Also, that blast seems awful close to that vault.

- Dogmeat sniffs around and we get a good look at a suit of power armor, great call back and great to see it's in this game.

- If you look on the dresser behind the armor, you can see a Vault Boy bobblehead. Looks like they will return.

- Dogmeat goes up to who we can assume is the player-character, Pip-Boy on and all. He says, "Let's go, pal" and both walk off to the Fallout 4 title card stinger.

So that's the trailer for Fallout 4, which will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated games whenever it gets a release date. We have been hearing about this......WHAT??????????

Go back......

WHAT???????

(He says, "Let's go, pal")

Our character, the Vault 111 dweller, TALKS! This is the first time in the history of the series this has happened, and it also had the same effect on me as the Star Wars trailer with Han saying "Chewie, we're home", BOOM!

It's worth noting that, as of right now, only PS4, Xbox One, and PC are the announced platforms, meaning this game will use the full power of modern consoles and not split resources with the last generation.

This announcement trailer is equal parts fan service and hype machine. It harkens back to what has made this series a classic, as well as pushes the series into bigger and better things. The world looks fantastic and expansive, the idea of playing out parts before the bomb gets dropped sound appealing, the thought of flight has my interest, and Boston looks to be a great setting.

We will hear more from Fallout 4 at E3 in just a few weeks, but until then, let the hype begin, because this looks amazing.
