The Games I am Playing for My Extra Life Charity Live Stream.

As you well know by now, I am gearing up for my 2nd year of a 24 hour live stream for charity through Extra Life. This is one of the most exciting days of the year for me and I am getting a little anxious to start playing, which is why I will most likely be running live streams this week in lead up to the big day, Saturday October 25th starting at 8:00AM CST.

With this post, I wanted to highlight each game I am planning on playing and talking about why I chose them and how I plan to deal with these games as the hours pass.

The plan is to play a game for a couple hours, then switch. That way I can keep it fresh and take frequent eat/drink/bathroom breaks. It is a marathon, not a sprint. I have 12 games lined up, with a potential 13th game for the "Bonus Hour" if I exceed my goal of $1,000.

I will also leave the info on how you can support me and cheer me on at the bottom of the post.

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - Hearthstone

I figured I would start my day long adventure with something simple and not requiring a lot of instant reflexes. I will be shaking off the sleep at this point so I went with a game that will get me warmed up. I'll probably play some offline practice games before jumping online for a few games and probably getting destroyed, but it's still a great game to get warmed up with. Also, a game I can probably have some breakfast with while playing.

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM - Bully: Scholarship Edition

I've always had a soft spot for this game. The idea of playing as a delinquent in a boarding school with Rockstar's brand of humor thrown in was always interesting to me and with all the talks of a potential sequel, I knew I had to highlight my favorite Rockstar game not named GTA or Red Dead. (If only they put The Warriors on Steam though, man I loved that game). I'll be warmed up a bit by this point, so getting a game with a little more action in it will help wake me up (that and the cans of Surge I still have left).

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Burnout Paradise

I was looking for a racing game to play this year, and after considering games like Test Drive Unlimited 2 and Grid 2, I figured I would go back to an old favorite and THE BEST free-roam racing game ever: Burnout Paradise. I played this a bit last year but I am committing a couple hours here at this time slot since I will be awake and ready to make split-second decisions (also considered playing Split/Second). The crashes are going to be spectacular and the majority of the time I will be trying to smash through billboards and road signs.

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure

At this point in the day, I will need something to come down from by Burnout rush and Tesla Effect should do the trick. I have been meaning to get to this game since I bought it and just never had the time. I had never heard of the franchise until this game was released and the idea that an FMV game can still work in 2014 is very intriguing. These kinds of games always eluded me during its heyday so it will be fun to delve into this world, especially with the voice of Tom Servo helping me out.

3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

I did play a few hours of this on my Twitch page the night it was released, and I knew I wanted more time to get into it. I have always been a fan of the Borderlands series and more of that always makes me happy. The first few hours I played were fun and funny, 2 things the series is best known for. I know some people are getting burned out at this point, but I think the series is great and am not-so-secretly hoping for an actual full MMO at this point. Borderworlds just sounds too good to not be a thing. This will be the first (and only) First-Person-Shooter on the schedule and I feel this time slot works best to deal with the constant action and gun-stat-comparing that this game will throw at me.

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM - The Sims 4

Prime Time Sims! After the more mature-humored nature of Borderlands, I figured I would take a step back and go into the more friendlier world of The Sims. I am still deciding on if I want to use a Sim I have already created or make a whole new one just for this event, but it will be fun nonetheless. I will be fully awake by this point, maybe a little hungry, so both me and my Sim can take care of our basic needs. I know I can kill a few hours with this game EASILY, and the hard part will be to make sure to stop in time because....

7:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth

I have this game already pre-loaded and ready to go once it is unlocked on Friday, October 24th. I am sure A LOT of people are going to play this on their live streams, which I imagine is a reason why this game is being released the day before the event. If you recall, Civilization V was my 15th favorite game OF ALL TIME. The idea that Beyond Earth takes everything that was great about that game, gives it a sci-fi coat of paint, and new upgrades and mechanics, making it even MORE addictive, is all the more reason why I am giving this game the most time during the event. Consider it the main event in my main event. This will also be the halfway point and I will still be awake and alert enough to be able to know what is going on.

10:00 PM - 12:00 AM - South Park: The Stick of Truth

After those hours of serious gaming and micromanaging, I am going to need something to make me laugh, which is where Stick of Truth comes in. I'll start a new character and show off just how good this game is. Still, in my mind, one of the best games to come out in 2014, and a great way to say goodbye to Saturday and usher in Sunday morning.

12:00 AM - 2:00 AM - Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

Getting near the time where I start fading, so I am going to play something with action while I still have my reflexes. I played the original Sleeping Dogs last year since I do love the game. The Definitive Edition brings gameplay improvements, visual improvements, and all the DLC. I'll have to mess with my video settings a bit before I get the best picture, but my video card is still pretty beefy and can handle it. I look forward to seeing this game in action.

2:00 AM - 4:00 AM - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

An oldie but a goodie (and #12 on my list of top games of all time). I chose KOTOR because it will be nice to go back to a game I haven't touched in years and one that I have very fond memories of. This will effectively be the time I lose whatever reflexes I had, so the slower pace of combat here and the ability to pause and assess the situation will be nice.

4:00 AM - 6:00 AM - SimCity

City building, how much more relaxing can that be? I know I will start fighting insomnia at this point, so the cities may end up looking real...interesting...but I have been meaning to give this game another shot and see what kinds of cities I can come up with.

6:00 AM - 8:00 AM - XCom: Enemy Unknown/Within

Big finish! I knew I needed something to carry me through to the end, something where I needed to make life-or-death (mostly death at this point) decisions and wipe out the alien threat. This will be interesting as I try to keep my sanity and my soldiers alive.

Bonus Hour: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

If I exceed my $1,000 goal by the end of the main event, I will play one more game for one more hour. While I haven't yet decided what that will be, I have a few in mind that will be a lot of fun, especially after being up all day/all night.
